Back in the day, because there was only one game mode, people were modifying creative mode to make it easier to navigate and play – mods like Too Many Items were some of the first to be seen by the Minecraft community. I posted in r/FeedTheBeast but I got a message saying my post was automatically removed and that I should post here instead, so I hope this is fine.People have been making mods for Minecraft, essentially since the game was first released. If anyone has a solution for me that would allow me to use forge mods, OptiFine, and shaders together I would greatly appreciate it. I have seen some threads say that there are other launchers for Minecraft which are better, but I want to use OptiFine and shaders which I read sometimes have issues in other launchers. The installation guide on the Forge website doesn't say anything about how to install for specific versions, so I have to assume that the installer checks that automatically. I don't even know if that's a possiblity. I'm worried that Forge might have tried to install Forge 1.13.2 over the latest release instead of the proper version, but I don't know how to make sure if that's the problem or how to fix it if it is. I also read that sometimes computers have trouble accessing the files if you don't check the Game Directory and Java Executable options in the Launch Options menu, so I tried doing that and it didn't work either. Notably I tried changing to Java runtime that the game uses to version 8 of Java as I read that when Minecraft updates to 1.14 they install version 11 of Java and that Forge isn't compatible with version 11. I tried to figure this out on my own, but all of the solutions I've read about don't work or don't seem to apply to this issue.
I noticed that the loading bar has some odd behaviour when it tries to launch, but I'm not sure if that means anything. I'm trying to install Forge ( v.25.0.218) for 1.13.2 and the installer.jar said that Forge installed correctly, but when I go to launch it the Minecraft Launcher says that the game crashed. I have never figured out how to get mods to work with Minecraft since the new installer came out and it killed my interest in playing the game, but I do want to keep playing it because I have enjoyed the game so much in the past.
